Grant Process

Due to our collaborative, project-driven, grant-making model, Do Something Cool (DSC) does not accept unsolicited grant or investment proposals.

However, if your organization is working to address a social need that aligns with our initiatives, either as a nonprofit or a for-profit, we would love to hear from you! In order to put your work on our radar and add your information to our database, we invite you to fill out our “Suggest a Grant” form below.

Do Something Cool Foundation invites organizations that meet our eligibility guidelines and is actively doing cool things that fit within one of our focus areas to become members of our pipeline. We pride ourselves on being collaborators and building partnerships with others in the field, so relationship building with organizations is an important part of what we do.

To that end, our pipeline is a community of entrepreneurs, creators, athletes, and local community influencers who participate in convenings and conversations through which they become a part of the DSC network, and are considered for project funding and investments as relevant cycles come up.

As each Grant Round beings, we reach out proactively to all organizations in our pipeline whose work is a potential fit. Although each Round is structured slightly differently, they are all collaborative processes in which our partners and board members conduct diligence on the organizations and select reach out to a number of organizations working in a given sector, inviting them to fill out a short Letter of Interest form.

Of the respondents, 8-10 are then invited to submit longer applications. We discuss these applications and then select 4-6 organizations for interviews with the Executive Directors (via phone or in-person). At least three finalist grantees are selected, for grants typically ranging between $10,000-$20,000.
